Get On Board with BNSF Railway

Once you decide to become a BNSF Intermodal Customer, we will assist you with the onboarding process to set up your freight account.

1. Sign an Intermodal Agreement

  • Insurance validation
  • BNSF Intermodal Rules & Policies Guide
  • Driver database registration

2. Complete the Credit Approval Process

  • Credit application form
  • Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) authorization

3. Register for BNSF's online suite of tools

  • Track and trace shipments
  • Submit bills of lading
  • Print, pay, and manage invoices
  • Manage or guarantee storage charges

General time for setup and processing is approximately two weeks, but this can vary greatly depending on approvals and urgency.

Here's a list of items and information you'll need on hand to get you started.

  1. What commodities you are shipping (hazardous materials, etc.)
  2. Where you will be shipping from/to
  3. Amount you will be shipping and seasonality
  4. Infrastructure and service needs
  5. Business and credit information

When you contact BNSF, you can expect a quick response that will have your request rolling within 72 hours. We'll help you with all the details and get you and your shipments on their way.
